Podcast 88 : Commando

Blah Blah Does anyone even read this? Biscuits.

Two podcasters not wearing underpants talking about playing games standing up in front of wooden boxes with TVs inside them. Buttons. Joystick. Thrills!

I may need help…

  1. Another great show, as a fairly new listener, have started going backwards through the podcasts. So far I am on podcast 53 and many of my other podcasts have taken a backward seat. Not sure working backwards was a great idea, as when discussing the game, I have already heard the review from the following week. Find myself thinking you don’t know what you are getting with Peter Pack Rat this week!
I have never had a cab and not really played an arcade machine for years. Still have fond memories from a child. Always remember our holidays from the 1970’s in Menorca, the bars always had a Pin, then this changed to an arcade machine as we got older (Galaga / Galaxian was one I remember being great).
When MAME was mentioned, thought I would give that a go, but starting from scratch was a challenge. Have managed to get games working and have been using a Logitech controller, but ability wise I am struggling. Had about 2 games of Commando and thought, nope! Too hard for me, but hopefully Juno First (never heard of it) will be the one I can put my first score in for (look for me at the bottom).
Love the talk about Biscuits, takes me back to some old work meetings we had. Each meeting someone had to bring biscuits and everyone would give a score, which were recorded in a spreadsheet (Shaun would be pleased!) Lets just say the I remember the biscuits a lot more than anything else discussed in the meetings and it did get competitive. When your Boss brings in their Nan’s homemade Biscuits you had to make sure you gave a great score, or you would find all the crap jobs coming your way for the next month!
Anyway, keep up the good work and looking forward to the review of NERG (too far North for someone from Southampton). Oh, and how blooming good is that Charlie Farr, watched some of his Galaxian world record, seems becoming a classical piano player was not a sign of a misspent youth.

  2. Commando is great fun…It’s the same? Yeah, so are many arcade games. And you liked 1942? That’s also the same over and over.

    I like react-games.
